The Role

Systone is seeking an experienced MicroStrategy Developer to support and evolve a large-scale federal business analytics environment. This role is responsible for sustaining and enhancing a mature MicroStrategy platform while leading modernization efforts, including migration to MicroStrategy Cloud and development of next-generation analytics capabilities.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable keeping mission-critical reporting running flawlessly and building new, higher-impact analytics in a government environment.

Key Responsibilities

MicroStrategy Platform Sustainment

  • Support and maintain an enterprise MicroStrategy environment consisting of 40+ production reports and dashboards

  • Manage user access, security roles, and permissions in compliance with federal and agency policies

  • Monitor and manage report scheduling, subscriptions, and distribution

  • Troubleshoot and resolve report failures, performance issues, and data discrepancies

  • Support government-wide and cross-agency reporting requirements

  • Perform MicroStrategy version upgrades, patches, and maintenance

  • Ensure platform stability, availability, and compliance with operational SLAs

Analytics Enhancement & Modernization

  • Lead or support migration from on-prem MicroStrategy to MicroStrategy Cloud

  • Design and develop new reports, dashboards, and datasets to meet evolving business needs

  • Implement major enhancements to existing analytics (performance optimization, usability improvements, data model enhancements)

  • Collaborate with data engineers, system owners, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective analytics solutions

  • Improve data visualization, usability, and adoption across federal users

  • Support testing, validation, and deployment of new analytics capabilities

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work closely with government stakeholders to understand reporting needs and priorities

  • Document report logic, metadata, and platform configurations

  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and change management processes

  • Provide guidance or light mentoring to junior analytics staff as needed

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on MicroStrategy development experience

  • Strong experience with:

    • MicroStrategy reports, dossiers, and dashboards

    • Object creation (attributes, metrics, facts, hierarchies)

    • Security and access management

    • Scheduling and distribution

  • Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise BI environments

  • SQL proficiency and strong understanding of relational data models

  • Experience supporting platform upgrades or migrations (MicroStrategy Cloud experience strongly preferred)

Government & Professional Experience

  • Experience working in federal government or government contracting environments

  • Understanding of controlled data environments, compliance, and operational rigor

  • Ability to support mission-critical reporting with minimal downtime

  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MicroStrategy Cloud or SaaS BI migrations

  • Experience supporting government-wide or cross-agency reporting

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Experience working with large datasets and performance tuning

  • Prior experience supporting analytics modernization initiatives

Clearance Requirements

  • Active federal clearance (or ability to obtain), depending on contract requirements
