The Role
We're looking for a Technical Product Owner/Manager who can operate comfortably at the intersection of engineering, security, and client delivery. The problems this person works on are often ambiguous, technically deep, and evolving in real time. Success depends on genuine technical credibility, not translated requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Own and shape technical product direction on engagements where requirements are not fully defined up front. i.e.; working through ambiguity rather than waiting for it to resolve.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for client and government stakeholders, translating between technical detail and business/programmatic priorities in both directions.
Write clear, concise, technically accurate user stories and requirements that a development or engineering team can act on without repeated clarification.
Engage directly with technical implementation details; systems, security, and development considerations rather than operating purely at the process layer.
Build and maintain trust with government or enterprise stakeholders, managing expectations and communicating progress, risk, and trade-offs clearly.
Prioritize and sequence work in fluid environments, adjusting direction as new information emerges.
Required Skills and Experience
7 years of experience that includes at least 5 years of software engineering, security or systems engineering experience
Strong technical background, with hands-on experience in a developer, security, or systems engineering role (not solely a product/process background).
Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients, including experience navigating government or public-sector stakeholder environments.
Demonstrated comfort operating in ambiguous, loosely defined situations where the path forward is not obvious.
Ability to write clear, concise, technically grounded user stories and documentation.
Preferred Requirements
Prior experience working directly with government clients or in a public-sector contracting environment.
Background spanning both a technical execution role (developer, security engineer, systems engineer) and a product or delivery-facing role.
What This Role is Not
To be clear about fit, this role is not:
A traditional Product Owner role within a well-established agile software development process.
Suitable for candidates without hands-on developer, security, or systems experience. Technical credibility is required, not optional.
A fit for candidates who struggle to write clear, concise, technical user stories, or who need heavily structured, unambiguous requirements to be effective.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Someone who has been a hands-on engineer or technical practitioner, has since moved toward product or delivery ownership, and is energized, not unsettled by unclear problems and shifting requirements. Comfortable in front of demanding stakeholders, including government clients, and able to turn ambiguity into a clear technical plan of action.
Who you are;
Must be eligible to work in the US
Comfortable working remotely
Capable of both deciding next actions, and knowing when the decision requires sign off from management
Comfortable in a dynamic (i.e., startup) work environment
Embrace AI assistants (e.g., ChatGPT, Notebook) as force multipliers to accelerate innovation, iterate faster, and maintain high-quality output.
A good communicator with the ability to express and share ideas to business leaders with a non-technical background
Ability to work collaboratively within a group, actively network with others and provide varying feedback to the team at the appropriate time to ensure that decisions stick.
Ability to identify and communicate constraints and can work within them.
Why work with us?
Be a part of an organization that wants to make an actual difference in the society.
